Moonee Valley Racecourse hosted the magnificent action-packed evening, delivering a Professional TKD Fight Night on Friday, 18 June 2010. Promoted by PTF Events, the showcase event provided a great night's entertainment for everyone, us included...with fabulous displays by the mighty powerful (VU) Korean demo team, Fighting Lyons acrobatic team... plus of course our very own, dynamic CWT demo team!
On the sparring front, one of the night's most rewarding highlights came from CWT female Black Belt fighter, 16yr old Olivia Karvounis (pictured right in blue). Coached by CWT's Head Instructor - Frank De Pasquale, Olivia matched up against Halls TKD player - Jessica "the Heart" Dullard, a much older and more experienced Victorian fighter with a string of national and international acclaim. But in the end credentials didn't really matter too much, because it was our western star that shone brightest, with Olivia "Chickee" Karvounis dominating the scoreboard throughout the 3 bout round with countless head and body shots on her opponent to outright win the ladies featherweight division - 18 points to 15. Well done Chickee!
The gala night also featured a variety of live entertainment including a band, demos galore, 2-on-2 sparring action, 3 man tag teams (Australia vs. Korea), auctions and lots, lots more...
