Victorian TKD Poomsae Championships

ONE-on-ONE Poomsae Challenge was on for all at the State Netball & Hockey Stadium on Saturday 22 May 2010...with CITY WEST TAEKWONDO taking home the golden prize at the Victorian Taekwondo Muye Championships. WELL DONE team on another magnificent display of WORK equals REWARD!
This event, being a 'subjective' rather than 'objective' state title championship followed a different scoring format to the normal technical judging system used at state and national technical events...with the overall winner determined by majority rule wins, rather than specific points awarded. Love it or hate it...end results remain consistent - City West TKD rock!!! Hence CWT's Tournament Manager - Jerry Ismail and Poomsae Director - Cesar Osorio couldn't be more pleased with our technical team's outstanding performance...winning 1st place individual results in all 'Red Belt' and 'Black Belt' divisions entered.
AND amongst the many highlights...continuing to the lead the way in taekwondo excellence, dominating the junior female Black Belt was Australia's No.1 Technical Champion - 13yr old poomsae sensation Carla De Pasquale. Following great success at the recent Gold Coast Open Championships last weekend in Queensland, where she won the heart of poomsae enthusiasts with her gold medal winning performances, it was fantastic to see Carla fire up again this weekend to take up the One-on-One Poomsae Contest in Melbourne, Victoria. Winning the club's first individual Gold Medal for the day certainly set the mood, putting CWT on its victory way!!!
...at the upper end of the scale, senior Black Belt poomsae competitor, Cesar Osorio also appeared in fine form to surpass Victoria's former No. 1 player to clinch 1st place in his respective age division (36-50yrs). Nice one Cesar...you still got it!
HOWEVER, our 'player of the day' surely goes to none other than Troy Johnson...surprising us all with his versatility and agility in the ring...proving his technical skills to be as good as his fighting skills. 21yr old Black Belt champion, Troy Johnson won Gold in his individual Black Belt event (19-35yrs), Silver in his demo team event and Bronze in his traditional team event. Way to go Troy!!!
