Jayden and his family are long term club members, with a strong faith in God and true fighting spirit! Together, they have endured what we can only imagine to be the worst kind of pain and suffering any family could endure in one lifetime.
On the morning of Wednesday 29 April, 2009, Jayden woke up complaining of headache-like symptoms
not uncommon in any household. A short time after, he collapsed to the ground, fitting uncontrollably. Discovered by his mother, he was rushed by ambulance to Melbournes Royal Childrens Hospital, where emergency brain surgery was performed immediately...saving his life by relieving all pressure from the brain caused by damaged blood vessels and arteries.
Unbeknown to the family, surgeons discovered Jayden suffered from a rare medical condition called arteriovenous malformation. As the name suggests, it is a condition that Jayden was born with, in which some blood vessels had not formed properly, rather than one that had developed instantly or over time. This type of condition only affects 3 in 10,000
and the rate for survival from such brain trauma is probably even less!
After 5½ painstaking long hours, surgeons were successful, managing to stabilise Jayden by placing him in an induced coma state to allow his recovery to begin.
Approximately one week later, 13yr old Jayden Janousek showed his first signs of improvement post-surgery, waking to a whole new life
one without speech or mobility
in short, he was trapped inside his lifeless body and unable to communicate with the outside world. BUT, a spirited young battler by nature, Jayden fought back to regain as much of his old self as possible, re-learning how to live again
walk, talk, eat, play etc. And thanks to the wonderful team at the Royal Childrens Hospital, together with the love, devotion and encouragement of his family and friends, Jayden continues to make steady progress.
Having regained most of his motor skills and long term memory now, Jayden still needs to continue developing his short term memory, which has been severely impaired by all the brain trauma sustained
but we never give up hope, that this might improve gradually over time.
Today, Jayden is almost unrecognizable (if it were not for his prominent big brown eyes and adorable smile that simply draws you in). Hes surely grown at least 2ft taller during his stay in hospital (4 months)
although, mentally he still remains quite young, naïve and fully dependent. In late August this year, Jayden celebrated his 14th Birthday and was finally discharged from hospital. Now at home, he and his family try to reconstruct their lives and secure their family unit.
Knowing the journey ahead is still very long and quite uncertain to say the least, it is with great pleasure that we are able to pull together and support the Janousek family, by providing a once-off fundraising opportunity in aide of Jayden Janounseks Fight Back to Recovery!!!
AND SO we kindly ask that you join us in celebrating Jaydens life, by attending our Fight Night Appeal, which will not only feature JAYDEN JANOUSEK, but also prominent State and National TKD fighters
plus therell be lots of fun and challenging activities for everyone, with our prime goal of the night to raise much needed funds to help Jayden reach his full potential with recovery. Monetary donations welcome either by cheque or cash payments only
NO EFTPOS facility available on Fundraising Account...with all donations over $2 fully tax-deductible.
HOPE to see you there in support!!!
